We have been reading our Helen Keller biography for about a week now and are absolutely loving it!! She was an amazing woman with so much determination and faith in the fact that no matter what trials come into your life if you trust in the Lord and determine that with His help you can and will overcome the obstacles to be the best that you can be you will make a difference in the lives of others.
Today while at the library Biggest Sis found an animated version of the Helen Keller story and asked to check it out. We did and although it was good I was a little disappointed at the "broad overview" that it took. (I'm thankful that that's not the only exposure to Miss Keller's life that the children will recieve.)
Today while doing their chores they tried to walk around "blind" and accomplish things...they learned very quickly that Miss Keller's days were not easy ones.
I'm so thankful that this book was one of the options for our story time this year!! Once we are done we will check out the Helen Keller movie that stars Patty Duke. It's an older one that we have seen before but after reading about her life in both the fiction and non-fiction books I think we will enjoy it more!
